Tulpa Discussion / questions-and-topics / Can most people visualize in "meatspace"?
Avatar
Just wondering if thats the case, if so, I have aphantasia and if not then how do I practice it? I visualize in my minds eye all the time, but cant begin to even think about two eye imposition (lots of people say they see it with normal eyes and not minds eye.)

Luminesce: "Lots of people" say that? I've never heard that before (edited)

i think they mean imposition
10:33 PM
oh right you mean that you didn't hear "a lot of people" claiming to be able to do it
Avatar
Luminesce: The skill of convincing your senses you're seeing/feeling/etc. your tulpas in real life (imposition) is considered an advanced skill, it's not a given that someone can just do it at all. (edited)
Avatar
yeah apparently most people that impose their tulpas can see them with two eyes
Avatar
Like hallucinating fully?
10:34 PM
there isnt much info on how to practice it on the tulpa.info
10:35 PM
it usually either says stare at a dark room or actually i dont think there is any other practice shown

Luminesce: 100% of them lol, because that's the definition of imposition. Though it's less true sight and more like the visual information gets added to your experience in between physically perceiving and it being processed in your brain. (edited)
Avatar
its pretty confusing to me
10:35 PM
lol
Avatar
Luminesce: We personally just learned it by trying to do it. Try to see your tulpas, walk around them, shape their forms in the air with your hands, whatever it takes (edited)
10:36 PM
No guides necessary, and not even stuff like TV static or whatever.
Avatar
okay, got it. So the q2 method kinda. Viv is really excited so i want to figure it out for us lol.
Avatar
if you can rotate an apple in your mind's eye, you're capable of imposition--it just takes a lot of practice
Avatar
I gave up on imposition tbh cuz it was boring and tiring but if you want to learn you'll get there just by practicing imagining them in the real world

lmao i just did the exact opposite of what you said by accident
Avatar
it's just open-eye visualization. It's still in your mind's eye, but it's "overlaid" on your normal vision

no, i understand what you mean, i just have no idea how to get an overlay whatsoever
10:38 PM
im stuck on 1 layer

Luminesce: We practiced it (after the initial stuff I just mentioned) by walking together between classes (and sometimes sitting in classes) at our college campus for a month or so, and haven't lost the ability in the years since (edited)
Avatar
KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:39 PM
what lumi said is probably sufficient, i never bothered with it so can't tell, but mixing different senses could probably help (touching, smell, hearing etc) (edited)
Avatar
when i visualize with open eyes i completely cant see reality, so im either 0 or 100 translucency.

so mostly the awareness helps i assume?

like being aware of where they are

Luminesce: Open-eye visualization is literally just visualization with your eyes open. Also, our imposition clarity is always less clear and detailed than our visualization, even if we exclusively practice imposing since we don't care for visualization much - so they're at least slightly different, though very related. I call that "presence imposition", and it plays a massive part in the experience, yes.

one last question, do you think learning how to hallucinate with Holotropic Breathwork would be helpful?
10:45 PM
apparently it is a way to hallucinate without drugs. I tried it last night and it kinda worked, but it wasnt for long enough\
10:45 PM
its just breathing

Are you going to lick your tulpa???

KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:45 PM
i did holotropic breathwork and it did indeed provide very interesting results
10:46 PM
i achieved alternate state of consciousness with some additional sensations, but i'm not sure if it would provide any visual hallucinations
10:46 PM
it was more touch related for me. worth a try
Avatar
just something i could add onto the end if I actually cared to, depends on if i want every sense fully.
10:46 PM
thats why i said its not reallly nessessary

10:47 PM
i might as well try it.
10:47 PM
what could i loose other than my lungs and my sports career
Avatar
KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:47 PM
you won't lose your lungs
Avatar
lol wait, I wont? (edited)
Avatar
KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:48 PM
i was doing it to get my lungs exercises because i had shortness of breath
Avatar
lol i assumed
10:48 PM
very wrong
Avatar
KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:48 PM
just keep in mind that even if you don't achieve your imposition goals, you don't need it to have a fullfilling tulpamancy experience
Avatar
got it! Yeah we can still have a great time, but might as well try it. Viv does really want to so id rather not let her down.
Avatar
KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:50 PM
like lumi said, presence imposition is probably the most important
Avatar
anyways thanks everyone for the help gtg now imma do some more forcing
Avatar
Imposition is hard and makes my head hurt. Plenty of other ways to be fulfilled if it’s too much
Avatar
make sure im not just unconsiously parroting lmao. I write books so i never can really tell if I fully developed a tulpa (edited)
10:51 PM
because they all kinda act the same for a while
Avatar
KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:51 PM
don't worry about parroting
10:51 PM
it's part of the process
Avatar
they do give me thoughts but im so used to writing so i dont notice much
10:51 PM
wait that sounded wrong
10:52 PM
"They give me thoughts" is pretty taboo for this community lol
Avatar
KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:52 PM
?
Avatar
i mean like they have their own thoughts, they dont give me thoughts
10:53 PM
yk what i meant
10:53 PM
im overthinking lol
10:53 PM
cya

KiTkAT( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧/jk 7/9/2023 10:53 PM
not sure what you mean by it being taboo
10:53 PM
not overthinking is definitely a good idea!
Avatar
lol i am like 80% left brain lol
10:54 PM
fair though I can totally turn it off if need be

Luminesce: This is exactly the kind of thing I hate. Can't contribute more than that, do it if you want, but I'm a huge proponent for simply doing things on your own and that working out just fine. Switching, imposition, creating a tulpa in the first place - I did them all very simply, and quickly in the case of the first two. No special tricks (edited)

its not really a special trick, its just like meditation/focusing its very similar, i was just wonddering if anyone tried it. Its still doing it on your own. Its just a smarter way to do it.

it only took me half an hour, but im not going to get in a debate, agree to disagree?

Luminesce: Starving yourself, sensory-depriving yourself, hyperventilating, staring at static, listening to binaural beats/isochronic tones - it's all unnecessary nonsense to me. I'm a big nay-sayer though, so you can ignore me (edited)
Avatar
I do sometimes wonder what negative effects the breathwork that causes hyperventilation could have on your brain But it's probably not a huge deal, probs way safer than drugs

no, you're right, though
